Admission Requirements

  • University degree in the field of medicine / health sciences / IT

    Your first college degree qualifies you for a career in the health care system, such as:

    • Medicine
    • Psychology
    • Social Sciences
    • Communication Science
    • Pharmaceutics
    • (Bio-)Informatics
    • Public Health
    • Media Science ...

    As a rule, the university degree must contain at least 240 credit points (ECTS). This is common for Master, Magister, Diplom, Staatsexamen and similar.

    Applicants with a university degree of less than 240 credit points (ECTS) may be admitted if they can prove on a case-by-case basis that they have achieved a similar competence profile (see more below). Among others this may be the case by:

    • Advanced and/or further training
    • Certificates
    • Additional training
    • Wokshops, eeminars
    • Congress, publications
    • etc.

    Appropriate supporting documents must be submitted, as well as a more detailed description of the competencies explained in the letter of motivation.

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the healthcare field

    You have already worked in the health care sector for at least 1 year and have gained initial experience in (direct or indirect) communication with patients, e.g. in the following areas:

    • Clinics, practices, hospitals
    • Pharmacies
    • Health Insurance Companies
    • Companies in the field of (digital) health
    • Medicine journals
    • Health Associations
    • Ministry of health
    • usw.
  • Language Certificate

    You need to provide a language certificate according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) demonstrating an English proficiency level of at least B2, which must be no older than three years. Applicants can also demonstrate their English proficiency by providing evidence that their previous studies were conducted entirely in English, instead of submitting a standardized language test such as IELTS or TOEFL.

Internationalization

Our goal is to provide a diverse audience the opportunity to study eHealth and Communication and actively contribute to improving patient care. To achieve this, we are now offering the program in two language versions:

  • German: For German-speaking students who wish to deepen their skills in eHealth and Communication.
  • English: For international students seeking global access to the field.

Minimum Enrollment and Language Selection:

We will launch both cohorts if each reaches at least 15 enrollments. Should one cohort not meet the minimum number, the program will be offered in the language with the most enrollments.

Application Documents

In case of an existing university degree with at least 240 ECTS, the following documents must be submitted: 

  • Copy of the certifcate and overview of grades of the university degree (min. 240 ECTS)
  • Tabular curriculum vitae (school, professional and acedemic career)
  • Proof of work and, if applicable certificate of professional acitivity in the health care field of at least 1 year

If your university degree is less than 240 ECTS, you can still submit an application with the following additional documents:

  • Letter of motivation for our degree program (e.g. Why do you want to study our course? What qualifies you for this program? What goals are you pursuing with the degree?)
  • Proof of additional competence enhancement (compensation for the missing ECTS via other qualifications), e.g.:
    • Further education and training in the health sector
    • Participation in workshops, conferences or congresses
    • Publications or teaching in the field of health care
    • Certificates or further additional qualifications

After the online application has been received, the documents are checked. You will receive a message about the result of your application review within 2 weeks.

In case of admission you will receive a participant contract as well as an invoice letter for the first semester fee. Upon return of the signed participant contract and payment of the first semester fee, you will be enrolled in the eHealth and Communication program at Friedrich Schiller University and will be granted access to all platforms.
